historians and their books is a podcast designed and hosted by Gary Cromie an Australian independent researcher and historian living in Chiang Rai in the north of Thailand. Gary has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Mass Communications – specializing in Radio production – from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and a Master’s Degree in American History from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He has an extensive library and is a collector of rare history books – particularly signed first editions. His main areas of expertise are: American History, Asian History, and Global or World History.

This podcast produces in-depth interviews with historians both inside and outside the academy. Its purpose is to promote their books and their research and to examine their lives in history. The site aims to engage and inform the general public – students of history – and history professionals. The site encourages the study of history -provides useful links and resources – promotes history courses and associations – and highlights how history can help us better understand the present and the future. Above all, it is a love affair – a celebration of historians and their books
